Stafford Rangers 0 ROFC 4.

The youth team travelled to Stafford Rangers on Thursday evening for the semi-final of the Staffs County FA Youth Cup.

Rushall had a bright start to the game and after a series of chances, took the lead through a Tanaka Katsukunya header. Encouraged, the pics pressed for a second but, rather than take risks, the team settled, taking a 1-0 lead into the interval.

The dressing room was positive, ideas took on board and the team only looked forward, aiming to reach a first ever county youth cup for the club.

In the second half, Rushall were dominant, whilst doing the basics in a very mature way. A second goal was added courtesy of another top finish from Tanaka Katsukunya.

Stafford now had to throw caution to the wind, leaving themselves open to a counter. Lucas Fallon added a third with some great reactions. By now the game was over, Jakob Burroughs capitalised late on to add the icing to a great team performance.

Manager Mike Dunn said “The lads really showed their class and maturity. It’s been very stop-start since Christmas, which has completely ruined the momentum we had built so well.

"The pivotal point was at half-time, it would have been easier to go back out, start sloppy and concede. The understanding and discipline on display was phenomenal, which in my opinion earned their place in the final, also a fantastic clean sheet away from home.

"To finally get a team to a county cup final is very special for me, I’ve fell short so many times.

"To bring home the trophy would be brilliant for the club, it’s always a pleasure when you can give something back.”

The cup final will take place towards the end of April. Further information will be announced when finalised.
