PICS’ boss, Liam McDonald, was a happy man after seeing his side run out 2-1 victors over a strong Walsall side in our first pre-season friendly.
“I thought that the lads did really well,” he said. “We knew it would be a tough ask in our first game but credit to the lads for the hard work that they put in.
“It was two well-worked goals for us; we’re on a journey here and we’re doing all our preparation so that we are ready for August 11th.
“The lads started to tire as the game went on but mentally and physically we showed that we are able to dig in.
“We know that when we are in trouble, we have a game plan to get out of it and our shape was excellent throughout the game.
“The new players have slotted into it well and have adapted to what we want to do here.
“It was two good footballing sides out there and I hope that the fans enjoyed it. That mentality and desire to win football matches is so important and even though it is really early days in pre-season, we are pleased.
“There is a lot more hard work to come but we have a good squad here and it will be interesting to see how it develops.”
We thank the 719 supporters that turned up to make it an enjoyable evening.
