CARETAKER manager, John Allen, was pleased with the effort put in by the players as we shared the spoils with Barwell.

"I thought that the lads were magnificent and deserved all three points," he said. "Defensively we were solid; each and every one of them out there did what was asked of them both on and off-the-ball.

"We worked exceptionally hard to get something out of this game. The group that we have here is honest and hard-working, they just need one or two experienced heads in amongst them to help them."

Allen admitted that progress was being made with regards to identifying a new manager, although he would not be drawn on a timescale.

"We've got one or two irons in the fire that we need to explore further," he added. "It's such an important appointment and we have to make sure that we get the right person to get this club to where we want to be.

"I have to thank Wayne and Will for their efforts; they brought a tremendous amount of professionalism to the club but we are in a results business and we felt that a change needed to be made."
