Match Report

It was a day to forget for the Pics as Stourbridge kicked off 2018 in style by bagging five goals to earn themselves a convincing 5-0 victory at the Memorial Ground.

After a quiet first half hour with little by the way of chances, Kaiman Anderson put the hosts ahead on 30 minutes moments after going close with a long range effort. Anderson latched onto a long ball before rounding Pics keeper Charlie Bannister and slotting home into an empty net.

The Glassboys doubled their lead on 40 minutes after Aaron Brown fouled Luke Benbow inside the box to concede a penalty. Leon Broadhurst stepped up to smash the ball down the middle and give Rushall an uphill task in the second half.

Stourbridge put the game beyond doubt on 53 minutes, when Tom Tonks scored direct from a free kick down the right hand side.

Rushall went close to getting one back after 57 minutes, when Danny Waldron flicked the top of the bar after a low ball in from Charlie Duke.

The fourth Stourbridge goal, on 78 minutes, was another that beat everyone from a right hand cross. This time it was Matt Dodd who saw the ball nestle into the bottom corner.

The scoring was completed on 81 minutes courtesy of Luke Shearer, who latched on to a Luke Benbow flick before firing high into the corner of Bannister’s net from the left hand side.

Rushall could have grabbed a late consolation but a close range effort was superbly blocked by Aris Christophorou on the goal line to ensure the Glassboys kept a clean sheet.
