Match Report

Rushall took the long journey to Rugby, for the semifinal of the league cup. On arrival it was obvious that Rugby Town were going to be able to play good football, by their outstanding facilities, partnership with the Strachan Foundation and the luxury of daily training sessions.

A very fast start from the home side, involving some great passages of play, saw Rugby nearly take the lead on numerous occasions. Rushall really had to role their sleeves up to contain the home side. With our work rate increasing, the Pics saw a couple of chances go wide, that sent a message to both teams.

Unfortunately, just before half time, to much space was given and Rugby rifled the opener from 25 yards.

In a real end to end second half, Rushall drew a tremendous save from the home keeper. After that and during a spell of Away pressure, Marquez Sinclair made a great diagonal run onto a through ball, to bring the tie level at 1-1 in the 70th Minute.

Both teams went for it and after chances for both teams, Rugby bagged a very late 87th minute winner.

Although going out of the cup, Rushall's performance was excellent against a very good side that had won their last 9.
