Match Report

Hednesford Town 1 Youth Team 2.

Rushall travelled to Keys Park, hoping to get a victory in the Staffs County FA Cup. The Pics arrived at Hednesford with the temperature drastically dropping prior to kick-off.

Just as the game started it was obvious it would be a challenge, due to the crunchy surface and a very chilly temperature of -2 degrees.

A fairly even first half saw both sides have chances but neither were able to capitalise, 0-0 HT.

Rushall identified in the dressing room things to improve on and made changes to some roles on the pitch. Unfortunately after 2 minutes of the restart, Hednesford won and converted a penalty and the Pics had it all to do.

It's always how you react to these incidents on the pitch, the lads pleasingly reacted positively and increased the work rate. Their efforts were rewarded when Simeon Paisley hit a wonderful strike to level things up.

Rushall were now finding more possession and on top of that being far more productive with the ball.

However, the home side did still threaten and Shaun Horan had to make a couple of important saves to keep momentum. With ten minutes left on the clock and the threat of the game going straight to penalties, Ryan Brookes had the vision and accuracy to find a beautiful diagonal ball into Josh Selvey's path, he made no mistake in netting a fine and deserved winner for a jubilant Pics side.

We now face Haughmond FC in the quarter final on 23rd January.
