ZAK MARTIN

Versatile, strong-tackling and aggressive left sided player with a superb level of fitness, he featured briefly for the club towards the end of season 2012-13, before linking up again with the Pics during summer 2013. Capable of playing as a wing-back or in a midfield role, he began his career as a schoolboy with West Bromwich Albion, working his way through the Baggies youth system and making a number of appearances for the club's U-18’s and Reserve sides prior to being released at the end of season 2008-09. Following a trial with Walsall in April 2009, during the summer months he linked up with King's Lynn, who had snapped up a handful of Birmingham-based players to play for the Norfolk-based side during the 2009-10 campaign. After just six appearances for the Linnets he was allowed to join Hednesford Town on a month's loan, making his debut for the Pitmen in September 2009 and went on to make the left back spot his own with a string of impressive performances. After extending his loan spell at Keys Park in late October, remaining for a further month, he ultimately returned to the Walks in December 2009. After Lynn's financial problems saw them effectively go to the wall in the same week, he continued to train with the Pitmen whilst resolving his contractual issues with Lynn before re-joining Hednesford on a permanent deal just before January 2010. The 2014-15 saw him suffer an injury blighted campaign, but is once again fully fit and raring to go for season 2015-16.
