RUSHALL Olympic made progress in the Walsall Senior Cup with a commanding 3-0 victory over Brocton at a rain-soaked Dales Lane.
It was a lively start by The Pics, who fielded three under-18 players, as Stan Mugisha and George Forsyth both went close in the opening exchanges.
The breakthrough came on 12 minutes as Mickael Partodikromo danced through the opposition defence before firing low into the back of the net from the edge of the area.
Despite enjoying the majority of possession, there was a let-off for Rushall when Jose Veiga produced a smart save before seeing the rebound cleared off the line from Gary Fife’s strike.
The visitors were made to pay shortly afterwards when skipper, Joel Kettle, guided the ball home to double the advantage five minutes from the break.
After Aiden Stone had done well to save from Luckie, the ‘keeper was left red-faced on 66 minutes when a free-kick from Isaac Cooper squirmed from his grasp to make it 3-0.
Some sloppy play and hesitation by The Pics almost presented Brocton with a goal but Veiga was alert to make a good save before Fife put a header wide from a good position at the far post.
