Rushall hosted St. Neots in the Cup qualifying round. This was the first time each team had met each other.
The Pics started the brighter team but our early dominance wasn't rewarded with a goal. Two clear chances were missed which were to prove costly as St. Neots broke down their left and Callan Irvine was left unmarked to finish from close range.
St. Neots doubled their lead with an almost identical goal with Irvine getting his second to make it 2 -0.
Rushall were awarded a penalty, that was converted by Adam Toddington to make it 2-1, but poor defending let St. Neots in again to make it 3-1 through Nehemiah Goodridge.
The second half started with the game much more even, Rushall were always chasing, so were always open to the counter-attack.
St. Neots effectively killed the game off when Irvine got his third and soon after his fourth to make it 5-1 to St. Neots.
This was a well-deserved win for St Neots who were the better, more determined and hungrier team on the day. The game was competitive, but St. Neots were the worthy winners.
Best wishes for the rest of the season to Richard and his lads.
