RUSHALL Olympic played out a goalless draw with Corby Town at Dales Lane.
It was the visitors who started on the front-foot when Ben Milnes linked up well with Stefan Moore whose low ball into the danger zone was well claimed by Jose Veiga.
A corner for the visitors was headed just over by David Bell before a free-kick at the other end from Mickael Partodikromo had the sting taken out of it by the defensive wall.
With 17 minutes on the clock, Gurjit Singh broke purposefully for The Pics and as his strike was spilled by the ‘keeper, Jason Lee was alert to clear the loose ball.
Despite their lowly League position, the visitors looked lively every time they went forward and an inviting cross from Milnes found Giuseppe Iaciofano in space but he headed wide from close range.
It remained goalless going into the break during what was an entertaining opening period but with chances few and far between.
The second period began in a rather scrappy fashion with neither side able to grab hold of the game.
Milnes got himself into a good position but was unable to profit as Rushall got men back to clear the danger whilst at the other end, Luke Bottomer looked to play in Singh but Jamie Anton was alert to make a timely interception.
There were a couple of late chances at either end in quick succession as firstly Ryan Boothe broke out wide but failed to pick out Singh in a good position. It allowed Corby to counter-attack as Milnes saw his effort saved by Veiga.
Right at the death a flowing move from the visitors saw Moore and Milnes link up well to find Phil Trainer whose downward header was well kept out by Veiga as the loose ball was scrambled clear.
It was to be the last action as the game ended goalless.
