RUSHALL Olympic shared the spoils with Ashton United in what was an evenly-matched encounter at Dales Lane.
There was a cagey opening to this game with both sides cancelling each other out and as a result chances were at a premium.
For the visitors, Richard Smith used his strength before getting in a strike that was deflected over whilst at the other end, a neat move ended with George Bowerman just caught offside as he looked to break through the middle.
With half-time approaching, Jose Veiga saved well to deny Ryan Crowther who skipped past a couple of challenges and from the resulting corner, Jack Dyche was on hand to sweep the ball home with a powerful low drive.
There was still time at the end of the half for Viega to save well from Crowther’s free-kick as the visitors ended the opening period strongly.
The early action of the second half saw Bowerman go close for The Pics before Gurjit Singh neatly slotted home the leveller on 68 minutes, just five minutes after coming on as substitute for his debut.
It prompted a response by the visitors who put the pressure on but the home defence stood firm to weather the initial storm.
Rushall had a great chance to take the lead on 80 minutes when Singh threaded through Luke Bottomer whose pace took him into the area before he poked inches wide.
As the clock ticked down, Singh went close after linking up well with Bowerman but the visitors got men back to deal with the danger and then Bowerman was thwarted in stoppage time as the game ended all square.
