RUSHALL Olympic’s poor form continued with a 1-0 set-back at lowly Frickley Athletic despite being on top for long periods.
The first chance of the game fell to The Pics when a strong challenge on Luke Bottomer led to a free-kick which Isaac Cooper delivered onto the head of Henry Eze who was inches wide with ten minutes on the clock.
As Rushall started to look the most likely side, they fell behind on 17 minutes when Adam Priestley was alert to seize upon a loose pass before rounding the ‘keeper and firing home.
With their tails up, Waide Fairhurst went close for the home side with an ambitious effort from distance that was deflected just over.
A glancing header from Luke Mangham following a Shiraz Khan cross was saved by Veiga who then did well to deny Waide Fairhurst with a smart double save as the half-time interval approached.
Some neat football early in the second half from Rushall ended with Marcus Jackson brought down for a free-kick on the edge of the area. Cooper’s effort was powerful but bravely blocked by the home side.
Good link-up play on the right saw Mickael Parodikromo put a low ball into the danger zone where Jazz Luckie’s close-range effort was deflected just wide.
A foul by Julian Lawrence gave The Pics a free-kick just outside the area which Cooper fired powerfully on target but Seb Malkowski in the home goal was equal to it.
It was The Pics asking all the questions in the second half and right at the death, Jazz Luckie took the ball around the ‘keeper on the edge of the area and fired goalwards only for Macaulay Parkinson to get his head to the ball and deflect it over.
With the chance went Rushall’s hopes of taking anything from the game.
