RUSHALL Olympic were made to work hard for their dramatic 2-1 win at Skelmersdale United as a stoppage time winner brought home all three points.
It was The Pics who came out of the blocks with purpose as Mickael Partodikromo did well before firing just wide in the second minute.
As the home side started to get into their stride, Jose Veiga had to be alert to clear outside his area ahead of Max Hazeldine.
The breakthrough came on 34 minutes when Jazz Luckie showed good feet to cut inside from the left and fire home with the aid of a slight deflection.
As Rushall started to take the initiative with some neat passages of play, a sharp turn on the edge of the area by Hawley saw him fire just over.
Right on the stroke of half-time a pacy break from Chris Almond saw him tee up Kenny Strickland whose powerful drive flew inches wide for the home side.
It was Skelmersdale who started the second half on top as the mist started to roll in with Kenny Strickland seeing a dipping effort from distance land just over.
After Reid had a goal ruled out for offside, The Pics had to work hard to keep the home side at bay as they searched for a leveller.
The was a double blow for Rushall on 86 minutes when Henry Eze conceded a penalty and in doing so received his second yellow card. Chris Almond stepped up to make it 1-1 from the spot.
More drama was to follow in stoppage time when Luke Bottomer’s teasing cross wasn’t properly cleared and as the initial strike was blocked, Joe Hull was on hand to turn the ball home and grab a hard-earned victory for the brave Pics.
