THE PICS failed to take our chances as we slipped to a home defeat at the hands of Frickley Athletic.
It was the visitors who started the brighter of the two teams without seriously testing Jose Veiga in The Pics’ goal in the opening exchanges.
There was a great chance for Rushall on 18 minutes when leading scorer, Alex Reid, was played through one-on-one with the ‘keeper but fired wide of the target.
With the home side starting to get into their stride, Reid broke away following a Frickley free-kick before feeding Mo Diop who turned inside the area only to see his strike saved by Sebastian Malkowski.
Some sloppy play by the home side saw Luke Hinsley presented with two opportunities, the first was blocked and the second gathered by Veiga, who then did well to claim an inviting low cross from Shiraz Khan.
At the other end, Malkowski did well to block from Reid on the stroke of half-time.
The Pics continued to create the better chances at the start of the second period but were unable to profit.
An intelligent ball from Aaron Forde picked out Reid on the left but he blazed over from a good position before a stooping header by Hull from a corner was cleared off the line Sam Hana.
A rare effort on goal from the visitors on 85 minutes saw Veiga do well to deny Khan but he was beaten three minutes later when Jack Waters found space to head home and give Frickley the lead.
The visitors managed to hold firm during a lengthy period of stoppage time and in doing so claim their first points on the road this season.
