THIS local derby ended in a commanding 4-0 victory for Rushall Olympic at Coles Lane.
There was a scrappy start to this local derby. The early action saw a chance at either end as firstly Jazz Luckie fired wide from a good position for The Pics before Danny O’Callaghan was denied by the alert Jose Veiga at the other end.
A purposeful break into the area by Luckie ended with him firing into the side-netting from a good position as Rushall started to step up a gear.
After O’Callaghan had seen a header from a free-kick deflected inches wide for the home side, the deadlock was broken on 42 minutes when Alex Reid took advantage of some sloppy defending to take the ball around the ‘keeper before firing home for The Pics.
The home side looked to hit back straight away with Luke Keen finding space inside the area but he dragging his strike wide.
Rushall doubled their advantage two minutes into stoppage time at the end of the first half when a penalty for handball saw Aaron Forde step up and tuck the ball home.
The second period was only a couple of minutes old when Luckie’s header across goal was turned into his own net by Kyle Delaney to make it 3-0.
There was a sweet strike from outside the area by Zak Martin to add a fourth goal on 65 minutes.
As the home side looked to reduce the arrears, they went close as Aris Christophorou did well to clear off the line when Francino Francis headed on to Lee Smith who managed to get in a strike at goal.
