RUSHALL Olympic saw their winning run come to an end in as they slipped to a single-goal defeat in what was a close affair at Nantwich Town.
It was the home side who came out of the blocks the quickest and went close with a free-kick from Sean Cooke in the fourth minute which was dragged just wide.
As The Pics got into their stride, a neat passage of play ended with a low effort from Mo Diop saved by the ‘keeper.
A long free-kick from Cooke was delivered invitingly into the danger zone where Sam Whittall was brave to head clear as Rushall defended well from the resulting corner to deny the home side.
There was a decisive break from The Pics as half-time approached with Luke Bottomer linking up well with Diop whose strike hit the base of the post.
The second period started with Rushall on top and Luke Bottomer was unlucky after a positive run ended with him lashing the ball against the woodwork before Mikael Partodikromo’s low effort landed inches wide.
The home side took the lead on 66 minutes when Ryan Brooke curled home from distance to give Jose Veiga no chance.
Try as they might, Rushall couldn’t find a leveller with Jazz Luckie lifting the ball well over after good work by Aaron Forde and then as Stan Mugisha looked to carve out an opening right at the death, the home side got men back to block his effort.
It meant that The Pics’ five-game winning run came to an end.
