RUSHALL Olympic made it four wins in a row with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Ilkeston.
There was a good tempo to the game in the opening exchanges but neither ‘keeper was seriously tested until the 19th minute when a neat move ended with Alex Reid slotting home to give The Pics the lead after the ‘keeper had done well to block a Mo Diop effort.
Whilst chances remained at a premium, The Pics started to get on top as the first half went on and a couple of inviting crosses from Reid and then Jordan Fitzpatrick flashed dangerously across the area with no-one on hand to profit.
With five minutes to go until the break, Zak Martin put in another good ball which saw Reid’s header rattle the crossbar as he put the rebound wide from a good position.
The visitors went close to levelling matters with their best chance on 55 minutes as a free-kick was pumped into the area and Luke Foster saw his header dip over.
A pacy counter-attack from Rushall saw Diop set Bottomer racing away and his low cross picked out Reid who put the ball wide from a good position.
In the end, The Pics dug-in to see the game out and make it four wins in a row.
