Rushall welcomed Woking to Aston Uni today in the next round of the shield. Woking have been doing well in their respective league, so a tough game was expected.
Woking started the match, but soon Rushall took control. Louis was a threat down the left but early chances werent taken. Defensively Rushall were looking comfortable as Woking didnt threaten in the opening minutes. Rushall broke the deadlock on the 18 minute mark when a fast counter played in Pickle who fed Louis to lift it over the on rushing keeper to make it 1-0. Woking nearly got back in when a couple of free kicks werent dealt with, but Woking failed to finish both times. Half time 1-0 Rushall.
Rushall kicked off the second half and within 5 minutes were 2 up, when Jakob broke down the right to find Pickle who caught the ball perfectly to leave the keeper no chance. Rushall were playing well and had further chances but didnt take them. Eventually Rushall got a third and killed the game off when Louis broke into the box and some good feet freed up some space and he fired home to get his second of the game. Rushall completed the scoring when Joe found space down the left and he cut in to finish on the near post to make it 4-0. However a sloppy couple of minutes by Rushall let Woking in. A free kick inside the Woking half found the Adam Flynn free and he slotted past Tom to make it 4-1. A few minutes later another sloppy piece of defending again found the Woking player free but Tom made a point blank save to keep the score 4-1 and ensured that Rushall progressed into the next round.
This was a good game of football played by two evenly matched teams and played the right way.
We wish Chris and the Woking lads all the best for the remainder of the season
