High flying Evo-Stik First Division South Spalding United, caused something of a shock result at Dales Lane as two second half goals were enough to see them through to the next round of the Integro League Cup. In truth the visitors deserved their victory as their slick approach play was rounded off with two excellent goals.
The early stages of the game saw the visitors impress and they almost went ahead in the twenty first minute when Connor Higginson`s shot was saved by Sam Arnold, and although the ball ran loose, it was cleared just as Jack Wightwick was about to tap into an empty net.
The home side hit back with Isaac Cooper`s long range shot just going wide and then Marcus Jackson cut inside but saw his shot palmed over the bar by Richard Walton in the visitors goal.
Ten minutes before the break a shot from Paul Walker skimmed the bar and two minutes before the break the visitors replaced the injured Connor Higginson with Bradley Barraclough.
Mickael Partodikromo got the second half underway with a long range shot that was well tipped over by Walton but in the fifty second minute the visitors went ahead. The impressive Jack Wightwick ran through the heart of the Pics defence but saw his shot saved by Arnold, and when the rebound fell back to him he picked out JONNY LOCKIE with a fine pass for the striker to finish coolly.
The home side then hit back and a long ball from Jackson almost picked out Dominic Dell and then Dell teed up Aris Christophorou who shot well over. Rushall were now enjoying their best spell of the game and after a foul on Jackson, Cooper`s free-kick was straight at the visiting keeper. As the Pics continued to keep up the pressure Aaron Forde found Jackson who shot wide and Henry Eze headed over.
With the game entering time added on the visitors sealed the game with another fine goal. The ball found it`s way to Wightwick out on the left and his inch perfect found substitute BRADLEY WELLS and the division`s leading goalscorer volleyed home to complete a fine win for First Division South outfit.
